But I think that is pretty overall defaulted into the tuner itself, and the instrument/mode setting doesn't alter that.įWIW - I think most of the the inexpensive chromatic tuners work about the same (other than how they weight and readout), and will serve the same purpose - much of the rest is just "marketing" - ie bluegrass doesn't use any different tuning. The only other difference that "could" be involved has to do with how the tuner deals with the read note and takes into account the difference between a plucked string vs a bowed string response weight and how it deals with harmonics. It's no more accurate though, the chromatic setting works fine. The only advantage is that less likely to inadvertently tune a wrong pitch (like half step or more off). Tuning in noisy environments is easy, because the unique flexible rapier actually uses the vibration energy of the instrument, rather than. The violin setting might be like the guitar setting - all they do take the chromatic and limits the overall choice of notes to EADGBE. I'm going to run my Intellitouch for a while to keep one less pedal in my chain (with my Pitchblack in my gig bag just in case). We did our usual 2 setlists of 2-3 songs each I don't know if I'd want to trust it for a longer setlist with very few breaks where I'd have to tune quickly on the fly, but for my purposes at least it worked good.

I tuned-up before we started the set, but even amid some outside noises and other folks around me warming up at the time it tracked ok for me - I did have to pick harmonics at the 12th fret a couple times though for it to pick up.

Maybe not as accurate as my Pitchblack, but I didn't notice any tuning issues in my mix.

In case anyone's still interested in this thread, I wanted to report that I yanked the pedal tuner off my board last week and I played my set in church this weekend using my old Intellitouch PT-1 from my acoustic guitar case.
